Sankalp, Sovna win State Schools chess titles

Sankalp Baliarsingh and Sovna Sonali won the boys’ and girls’ titles in the State Schools (under-17) Chess Championship, which was organised by Bhubaneswar Schools Sports Association hee at Govt Boys High School, Unit-IX, from January 30 to 31, 2015.

Sankalp scored 5.5 points out of possible six, while Sovna logged 4.5 points out of a possible five. Altogether 32 boys and 22 girls participated in the tournament. Top five finishers in each category qualified to represent Odisha in the forthcoming National Under-17 Schools Chess Championship to be held later this year.
